Why its smart to be optimistic?

Is the above glass is half empty or half full?

An  optimism person will look at the glass as half full and  a pessimism will look at the glass as half empty...

Just want to share a very good and inspired article from Reader's Digest (June 2011)...

Expecting good things can make we healthier and might even lengthen our life...

Optimism's principles :

  1. Feeling well helps when we  are not well..When researchers look at people who have similar medical conditions, they can predict who's likely to live longer :the one who feels their health is better .There's something about that feeling of wellness that's important :Optimism also seems to help buffer us against stress..
  2. Optimism is something we do."Anxiety and other negative emotions are known to be detrimental to our body "..People who are optimistic are more likely to actively participate in their treatment..
  3. Create a positive events log.."  Good things happen to everyone, but pessimists often don't take notice "..spending a few minutes everyday writing about at least 3 positive things may help us expect them often....
